Whiz Kids: Broadneck High Softball Team

With a 16-2 record, these champs are headed toward another title.

With 15 wins and two losses this spring, the Lady Bruins have had a standout season. The team has won the state title two out of the past three years, and they currently rank second in this 4A East region (just behind rival Chesapeake).

Their achievements have earned a well-deserved bye week in the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association championship playoffs announced yesterday. The girls will next play the winner of the Meade vs. North Point game.

Of the 14 girls on the 2011 roster, five are graduating seniors including pitcher/infielder Bekah Kiser, infielder Courtney Long, outfielder Tyler Thompson, outfielder Lauren Tolliver and catcher/infielder Adrienne Gebele.
