About Our Cause
The CP Dream Team is an evidence-based program to prevent crime and enrich youth in our community. The program is powered by an elite, inter-agency team of volunteer “Police All Stars” who builds relationships between police and youth in College Park, MD through basketball, shared meals, and conversation. This program gives my officers an opportunity to mentor youth, meeting teens through recreation. The program helps foster positive relationships by building trust, thus increasing the willingness of residents to report crime and suspicious activity to police. The Dream Team initiative is generously supported by Maryland Athletics and the University’s Office of Community Engagement as part of a high-profile institution-wide strategy to advance the University President Wallace Loh’s visionary mission to make College Park a top 20 college town by the year 2020.
