UMd. Athletic Director Denies He's Leaving for Stanford

There's 'no truth' to the claim, says Kevin Anderson.

University of Maryland Athletic Director Kevin Anderson told the Washington Post Monday that there's "no truth" to talk that he's leaving his job for Stanford University.

Earlier in the day, the San Francisco Chronicle had reported that Stanford was ready to name Anderson its athletic director pending the completion of contract talks.

If hired, Anderson would replace former AD Bob Bowlsby, who left Stanford earlier this year to become commissioner of the Big 12 Conference.

A Stanford spokeswoman later backed up that claim, telling the Chronicle that the school hadn't spoken with Anderson or his representative.
