2nd Scratch-Off Ticket Win Worth $53K Claimed By Retired Military Veteran
A military veteran from Columbia won more than $53K with his second win on a scratch-off ticket.
COLUMBIA, MD — After winning a Racetrax prize a few years ago, a Columbia man returned to the winners circle with the exact same game but a $53,438 prize this time.
“I love playing this game,” the retired military veteran told Maryland Lottery officials.
The big winner picked four horses and generally likes to stay with that combination. Previously, his lucky numbers were 10, 4, 7 and 9. Those numbers were very close to his combination from his last win. He told lottery officials both winning combinations were a part of his strategy.

“I keep playing the same numbers,” the Howard County resident said. “I like to play three high numbers and one low number.”
The Columbia man told lottery officials that he plans to put his prize in the bank. Short Stop Convenience at 10300 Little Patuxent Parkway in Columbia also was a big winner. The Howard County retailer will receive a $534.38 bonus, equal to 1% of the prize amount.
