Knife-Wielding Man Robs Columbia Convenience Store: Howard County Crime Reports

Crimes reported between Nov. 20 and Nov. 25. All information was provided by the Howard County Police Department.

Robbery - knife-wielding man robs convenience store

A knife-wielding man entered the 7-11 at 8800 Centre Park Drive, jumped the counter and ordered the clerk to open the cash register and a safe around 1 a.m. on Nov. 22. The clerk complied, and the suspect fled the business. Police described the suspect as a white or Hispanic male, about 5-foot-6, 130 pounds, wearing blue jeans, a white hoodie, dark sneakers and a black scarf covering his face. 

Residential break-in - door kick-in

Someone kicked in the door at a residence in the 9400 block of Ridgeview Drive during the day on Nov. 22, but nothing appeared to be missing.

Residential burglary - laptop stolen

A laptop was stolen from a residence in the 5400 block of Delphinium Court on Nov. 23 after someone entered the residence through a rear sliding door.

Residential burglary - loose change stolen

Someone forced open the front door of a residence in the 12000 block of Little Patuxent Parkway, ransacked areas of the residence and stole two bags of loose change on Nov. 20.

Residential burglary - gaming systems stolen

Two electronic gaming systems were reported stolen from a residence in the 8400 block of Kings Meade Way sometime during they day on Nov. 20.

Robbery - hydroponics store holdup, employee stunned

An employee of Maryland Hydroponics in the 10000 block of N. Second Street was leaving work around 6 p.m. on Nov. 21 when two people approached him asking if the store was closed. The employee opened the store back up for the two people, who gathered merchandise and placed it on the counter. Then one of the suspects pulled out a stun gun and shocked the employee, while another suspect grabbed the merchandise and fled the store. Police are continuing to investigate the incident.

Robbery - cell phone and keys stolen

A man walking in the 9200 block of Livery Lane around 11:15 p.m. on Nov. 21 was assaulted and robbed by three men who approached him from behind. One of the suspects put the man in a headlock, while the other two went through his pockets. The three suspects stole a cell phone and keys from the man, then fled toward All Saints Road.

Burglary - resident comes home, chases burglar

A homeowner returning to his residence saw a man running from his home and began to chase him. The suspect threw a jewelry box in the process, and as he approached a minivan implied to the homeowner that he had a weapon, according to police. The homeowner stopped the chase as the suspect entered the passenger side of the vehicle, which fled eastbound on Scaggsville Road around 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 22. Police said a side door was forced open to gain entry to the home. The suspect was described as a thin black male wearing dark clothing.

Residential break-in - juveniles charged

Three juveniles were charged, then released to their parents, after police found one of them exiting through the rear door of a vacant residence in the 9300 block of North Laurel Road around 3:45 p.m. on Nov. 24. Two other juveniles were found inside the residence. A citizen called police after watching two people kick in the back door.

Residential burglary - tools stolen

Someone entered a garage in the 10600 block of Scaggsville Road and stole tools during the afternoon of Nov. 20.
