Public Meeting To Highlight Project Stabilizing Eroding Stream Bank

The community can attend a public meeting that highlights a planned project to stabilize an eroding stream bank along Wheatfield Way.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — The public can attend a meeting Aug. 19 to learn about a planned project to stabilize a section of the stream bank encroaching on property located between 8684 and 8680 Wheatfield Way in Ellicott City.

The meeting will start at 6 p.m. in the Ellicott Room of the County’s’ George Howard Building at 3430 Court House Drive in Ellicott City.

The proposed project will stabilize approximately 120 feet of eroding stream bank using a combination of stone and vegetation. Riprap will also be placed at two existing storm drain outfalls to decrease future erosion potential. The project is currently in the design phase, with construction expected to begin in June 2026 and estimated completion by September 2026, according to county officials.
