A federal officer was captured Friday, a day after police say he shot to death his estranged wife in Beltsville, and investigators said they "have reason to believe" the same man is connected to two fatal shootings earlier in the day at the Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda and Giant Foods in Silver Spring.

Of the two bystanders wounded in the Montgomery Mall shooting, one man is in critical condition and one woman has non life-threatening injuries. Driver Dies After Crash with Dump Truck
A driver died after his truck crossed ran head-on into a dump truck Thursday near the Howard-Carroll county line, according to the Howard County Police Department.
Elijah Jones, 65, of Rockville, was driving a 1999 Ford Ranger north on MD 97 at approximately 10:30 a.m. Thursday when his pickup truck crossed the double-yellow line into that path of a southbound 1998 Mack dump truck near MD 99/Old Frederick Road, police said. >>> Read more.
The trial for Officer Edward Nero—one of six officers charged in the death of Freddie Gray—will commence next week, judicial officials say. Nero, 30, one of two officers who arrested 25-year-old Gray, is charged with second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and two counts of misconduct in office.
He is the first to stand trial in Gray's death since Officer William Porter's case ended in a mistrial in December. >>> Read more.
