Arundel High to Host Delegation from India

The group of 17 students was expected to attend Friday night's homecoming football game.

A group of students from India will be visiting Arundel High School as part of a two-week trip tied to the school's signature program.

Seventeen students and one teacher from Vivek High School in Chandigarh, India were expected to arrive Friday in time for the homecoming football game at Arundel. Then for two weeks, they will sit in on classes, take part in field trips and offer a glimpse of their own Indian culture.

The theme of the visit is based on "Millennial Diplomacy," and is designed to emphasize "civic engagement, conflict resolution, youth advocacy, and intercultural understanding," according to a statement issued by the school.

The visit was arranged through Arundel High's Community Development and Signature Program. A welcome ceremony at the school is planned for Monday morning.

The Indian and American students are expected to explore the role of sports in diplomacy. While the Indian students will attend the homecoming football game and a unified tennis match next week, the American students will get tutorials in cricket and badminton.
