Police: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Homicide Near Crofton

A Gaithersburg man was found shot to death in his vehicle; a Baltimore man has been charged with murder.

The Gaithersburg man found dead in his car was reportedly acting as an unlicensed cab driver and was shot to death by a Baltimore man, police said Friday.

Anne Arundel County Police officers were called to the scene of what first appeared to be a single-vehicle accident Monday, but officers declared a homicide case investigation instead.

Officers were called to the 8300 block of Williamstowne Drive, Millersville, around 6:46 a.m. Monday. They found Seydou Allasane Ba, 46, of Gaithersburg, in the driver’s seat and pronounced dead upon arrival, according to authorities.

After an autopsy, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the cause of Ba’s death to be a gunshot wound.

Anne Arundel County detectives identified Shupelle Rattim Gunter, 21, of Baltimore as a suspect in the case.

While speaking with detectives, Gunter reportedly admitted he shot Ba after the two argued, according to police. Investigation revealed that Ba was an unlicensed cab driver, who was lured to the area by Gunter.

Gunter has been charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, handgun on a person and handgun use in a felony violent crime.

Although the arrest has been made, investigation on the incident is ongoing.
