Principal ruins graduation possibly for many

Upset over graduation tradition

Arundel High School has been around for decades. In those decades some traditions have had to change. The class of 2018 has been know as the class with the most changed.

Now the newest change was just announced last week. After parents have had senior pictures taken and spent a lot of money on said pictures.

The tradition on question is the graduation gowns them selves. Boys have always worn green and girls white. Now to be more inclusive of everyone, The new style is to be Kelly Green with white stripes on the sides.

The students are not all happy along with many parents. The community is completely divided.

Some welcome the change as many do not. The kids have gone as far as starting a petition to getting the old gowns back.

Some parents are not ordering gowns at all in protest. Others have contacted the Board of Education to get their view. Unfortunately with it not being a policy they leave it up to the individual schools.

Parents and students who used to be friends are now on opposite sides.

It is a very sad situation.
