Valedictorian Volunteers As Medic, Tutors Other Students In Crofton
The Crofton High valedictorian dabbles in robotics and tutoring. When she's not in the classroom, this star student volunteers as a medic.

CROFTON, MD —Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Stacey Mohammed who nominated Rachel, a high school senior from Crofton.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Rachel is currently ranked number 1 out 358 seniors at Crofton High School with a 4.6 GPA and a score of five on seven of her AP tests. She received a perfect 1600 on the SAT her sophomore year and a perfect 1520 on the PSAT as a junior. Rachel is a member of the National Honor Society, the National Science Honor Society, the National Math Honor Society, a National Merit Finalist, and an AP Scholar with Distinction. She is also the captain of the Crofton CyBirds robotics team, a member of the Math team, active with the Cardinal Players, and she has participated with the Student Government Association. In her spare time, Rachel tutors other students in Math and she works at the Center of Help as a literacy teacher for Spanish speaking adults. She is also a volunteer AACO EMT and currently works as an Engineering intern for Newton, LLC.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
Rachel's goal in life it to lift others.
