Apply Now for July Urban Forestry Camp at the University of Maryland
The Urban Forestry Careers Camp (UFCC) is taking place on the flagship campus of the University of Maryland, College Park

Due to increased interest, high school students from Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. now have the extended opportunity to apply for the newly created Urban Forestry Careers Camp (UFCC) taking place on the University of Maryland campus in College Park. The joint venture is hosted by Maryland Forestry Foundation, in conjunction with the University of Maryland College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (AGNR). The application deadline is Thursday, June 20th.
UFCC tuition is fully paid by the Maryland Forestry Foundation from a grant from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. Covered expenses for UFCC students include on-campus housing, campus meals, field trips, recreational activities, and educational materials. Career Night learning sessions to include the importance of urban forests, their economic impact, and the health and environmental value of trees. In addition, there will be offsite field trips to Casey Trees Nursery in Washington, D.C, the National Arboretum, and the City of Hyattsville. Faculty and staff from the University of Maryland will include Michael Raupp (Entomology), Richard Jones (Campus Arborist) and Travis Galo (Wildlife Biologist) who will lead sessions on how to conduct tree inventories, diagnose tree disease, determine the value and health of trees, and how to assess and reduce damage by deer and other wildlife in an urban environment.

Two Letters of Recommendation, preferably submitted online by a teacher, counselor, club adviser or another non-family adult is required. For those individuals without summer access letter writers, a telephone meeting is possible.
