Devanshi Mistry, a senior at Liberty High School, has received the Outstanding Student in Gifted and Talented Education Award presented by the Maryland Gifted and Talented Advisory Council.

This award is presented to a student who performs at remarkably high levels compared with peers in specific academic areas or visual or performing arts. The recipient also must participate in a gifted and talented program or another advanced-level opportunity in the area(s) of giftedness or make a significant contribution in clubs, organizations, and/or philanthropic endeavors in or out of school.

Mistry has challenged herself academically throughout her time as a student, taking a total of nine Advanced Placement (AP) classes and participating in dual enrollment opportunities to take classes at Carroll Community College. In addition, she has undertaken an independent study in music as a senior.

Mistry has been an advocate for promoting and advocating for advanced academic opportunities for students in her role as Student Representative on the Board of Education of Carroll County. She has also excelled in leadership within the Carroll County Student Government Association.
