Westminster, MD, Monday, March 14, 2022 - The Carroll County Department of Public Works is notifying residents that due to the increasing cost of recycling to the county, an increase in the recycling tipping fee will be applied to haulers, effective July 1, 2022. Residents may see price changes from their solid waste haulers due to the increase.

On May 25, 2021, the Carroll County Board of Commissioners adopted the FY22 Operating Budget for Carroll County which included an increase in certain rates at the Northern Landfill. In an effort to offset the county’s increasing costs to recycle, the charge for commercial hauled recyclables will increase from $30 to $55 per ton, starting 7/1/22. This change does not affect recyclables dropped off directly by county residents at the Northern Landfill recycling area.
