Salazon Chocolate Co. Opens In Sykesville Friday

A gourmet, organic chocolate company whose products can be purchased in Whole Foods markets around the country is opening a store in Sykesville.

Salazon Chocolate Company, a wholesaler of organic, salted dark chocolate, officially opens Friday at 7552 Main St. in Sykesville.

According to a company news release, the company will "emphasize natural, organic products from companies with a social conscious (we're big on small - artisanal producers, local sourcing, fresh ingredients, fair-trade, environmental protection/sustainability)."

The market will feature wine, beer, cheese, olives, dips and spreads. Local products, such as B'more Organic, Michele's Granola, Infused Spreads, Sarah N' Dippity and beer from Baltimore breweries, will be available at the market, the release said.

The opening, itself, features samples, music and tastings from both Black Ankle and Flying Dog, the release said.
