Susan Bonura Honored For Work With Lions Club: Patch Community Leaders

ELDERSBURG, MD — Without community leaders, Eldersburg Patch wouldn’t hum along nearly as smoothly as it does. We’d miss their contributions in big and small ways.

Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to recognize these often unsung community leaders and celebrate their contributions.

This submission comes from Martin Bonura, an Eldersburg Patch reader who nominated Lion Past District Governor Susan Bonura.

How do you know this community leader?

She is our Lions Club's immediate past president and also my wife.

What does this community leader do?

In the South Carroll Lioness-Lions Club, she was president for two years, spearheading our service projects with the club. These include collecting sneakers with GotSneakers and providing the funds raised to a child with cancer. We now have a second child with whom we are working. She arranges or Shred Event, paint nights, dinners, and holiday events, collecting funds for the Lions Vision Research Foundation using her extreme Christmas display. She works on the district and multiple district level of our Lions district in marketing and our annual convention.

Why do you believe the community leader should be recognized or honored?

The South Carroll Lioness-Lions Club received two recognitions by the Eldersburg Patch in August 2023 based on her years as president.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the community hero?

She believes that service as a Lion is her full-time job. She succeeds at ever job she is given. She is also a great wife.
