Dignitaries, Public Say Farewell to William Donald Schaefer

Viewing in State House is the first of three days of memorial events.

Several hundred people gathered outside the Maryland State House in Annapolis Monday to mourn the passing of William Donald Schaefer.

An honor guard from the Maryland National Guard carried Schaefer's flag-draped coffin past honor guards of fire and police departments from around the state.

The public was allowed to enter the State House to view Schaefer following brief remarks made by Gov. Martin O'Malley.
