Fatal Hit-and-Run on I-95 in Elkridge
Witnesses helped police locate the vehicle that they believe is responsible for the collision.

Maryland State Police are questioning people who may have been driving the car that witnesses say was the the cause of a fatal collision in Elkridge over the weekend.
One person was dead and two injured after the hit-and-run on Interstate 95, according to Maryland State Police.
Troopers responded to the northbound side of I-95, just north of Route 100, Saturday at about 8 p.m., after reports of a hit-and-run collision, according to Sgt. Anthony D. Riley.

According to the preliminary investigation, police determined that a Toyota SUV was driving northbound on I-95 when a 2012 Volkswagen GTI, travelling in the same direction, drove into the back of the SUV.
The SUV drove off the side of the road, according to police, and flipped over, landing in a wooded area. The front passenger of the SUV, Michael Lopes, was pronounced dead on the scene, according to Riley.

Two other passengers of the SUV were taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma.
The driver of the Volkswagen did not stop when the SUV went off the road, according to police.
Police say witnesses were able to help police locate the car in a garage in Baltimore City. Investigators are interviewing people who may have been driving at the time of the collision.
