Girl Flown to Hospital After Being Hit by Preschool Van

Police say there were children riding in the preschool van.

The 13-year-old girl who was hit by a preschool passenger van Tuesday is in critical condition at Johns Hopkins Johns Hopkins Children's Center, according to a police spokesperson.

A 13-year-old girl was flown to the hospital Tuesday after being struck by a preschool passenger van with children inside, according to police. 

Police were called to the intersection of Vollmerhausen Road and Castleford Drive in Savage at about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday after several witnesses called 911. Witnesses told police that the girl stepped into the street and was struck by a 14-passenger van owned by La Petite Academy.

According to police, there were five children in the van, ages 5- to 8-years-old.

The girl was flown to University Shock Trauma. Police do not have information on her condition.

Police have not issued any citations related to the incident and continue to investigate. 

On Monday, a 13-year-old Mayfield Woods Middle School student was hit by a car when he went into the street, according to police.
