Officials Investigate Fire, Reported Explosions on Washington Blvd.

Several bystanders reported heavy black smoke and explosions.

Investigators at the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services are looking into the cause of a fire and possible explosions Monday on Washington Boulevard, according to a spokesperson.

Fire crews were called to Dakis Automotive, at 7491 Washington Blvd. in Jessup, at about 4:15 p.m., after several bystanders called 911 with reports of loud explosions and black smoke, according to spokeswoman Jacqueline Cutler.

When they arrived, crews found a fire, which they brought under control within about 20 minutes, Cutler said. No one was injured and investigators are still looking into the cause of the fire and possible explosions.
