Howard High Junior Eagle Scout Project — Launches Global and Local Clothing Drive to Serve Communities
From Maryland to Nigeria, Oluwapelumi Adepoju's Eagle Scout project unites communities through compassion, leadership, and global service.
From a curious 9-year-old in Troop 846 to a driven young leader with a heart for service, Oluwapelumi Adepoju’s eight-year journey through Scouting has culminated in the highest honor — the rank of Eagle Scout.
Pelumi, now a junior at Howard High School, began his scouting journey in 2017 at Epworth United Methodist Chapel on St. Lukes Lane in Baltimore. Since then, he’s earned numerous merit badges, led community service efforts, and grown into a role model for younger scouts.
But his path to Eagle Scout is about more than personal achievement — it’s about purpose. For his Eagle Scout project, Pelumi has taken on a mission that bridges continents and communities. In partnership with the nonprofit Pantry Aid Inc., he launched a large-scale drive to collect clothes, shoes, and toys to send to families in Nigeria, his home country — bringing comfort, dignity, and hope to those who need it most.

And his heart for service doesn't stop there.
Pelumi is also donating a portion of the collected items to local organizations — including the Goodwill and clothing donation boxes throughout Howard and Baltimore counties — ensuring that the impact of his project is felt both globally and right here at home.

On June 7th, 2025, Pelumi’s vision came to life as he gathered fellow scouts, friends, and family at his home church, Jesus House Baltimore, to sort, organize, and prepare donations. The event was a true display of leadership, community spirit, and unwavering dedication.
“This journey has been incredible,” Pelumi shared. “I’m so thankful for everyone who’s supported me — from rides to scout camps, help with merit badges, to all the encouragement. I couldn’t have done this without you.”
As he celebrates this milestone, Pelumi looks ahead with humility and hope — ready to keep serving, keep growing, and continue making a difference wherever he can.
