Powerball Jackpot Reaches Historic $600 Million

Did you buy a powerball ticket?

It's the largest Powerball jackpot in history: $600 million, according to a Maryland Lottery spokesperson.

And it's the second-largest of all the multi-state lotteries; , according to a statement from Maryland Lottery spokesperson Erica Palmisano.

One of those Mega Millions winners was in Maryland.

The jackpot has "rolled," 13 times - that is, there hasn't been a winning number in the past 13 drawings. Until today, the highest Powerball jackpot had been $587 million in November 2012, according to Palmisano. 

Powerball has been in Maryland since 2010, according to Palmisano; there have been two Maryland winners since then.

The drawing is scheduled for Saturday at 10:59 p.m. And who knows? Ryan Sisk speculated on the Maryland Lottery Facebook page "It could reach one billion by next if nobody wins."
