Access To Alpha Ridge Landfill Blocked By Developer Project

A developer project prompting the closure of Marriottsville Road will block access to Howard County's Alpha Ridge Landfill, officials say.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Now through late August, Marriottsville Road from Resort Road to U.S. 40 will be closed to all traffic, county officials said.

Access to the Howard County Alpha Ridge Landfill in Marriottsville will be affected, officials said.

A developer project has prompted the road closure, Howard County officials added. That project calls for the replacement of the culvert of a Little Patuxent River tributary running under Marriottsville Road just south of the Resort Road/Albeth Road intersection in Marriottsville. Weather permitting, the work should be completed by late August 2024.

During the construction period, traffic will follow a clearly marked detour using I-70, MD 32 and MD 99. Marriottsville Road north of U.S. 40 will not be accessible at the U.S. 40 intersection and Resort Road may be accessed from southbound Marriottsville Road just north of Resort Road.
