ELLICOTT CITY, MD — The annual Y Turkey Trot Charity 5K returns this Thanksgiving holiday to six locations, including in Howard County.
Adults, children and families can run, walk or stroll in the event, which also has a virtual option. Locations include Arnold, Baltimore City, Bel Air, Ellicott City, Townson and Westminster.
“The Y Turkey Trot Charity 5K has become one of this region's best annual traditions for so many families, neighbors and friends on the morning of Thanksgiving," said John Hoey, president and CEO of the Y in Central Maryland. "With over 16,000 participants across six sites in central Maryland, it's a wonderful way to get some exercise, immerse yourself in your community and help the Y in our continued effort to support our neighbors. And, you don't have to be a great runner. Jog, walk, bring your dog, push a stroller - whatever works for you. This event is about having fun, connecting with your community and making a difference.”

Proceeds from the event will be used to help allow families who struggle financially to participate in Y programs, which keep them and their children healthy and connected. The Y also collects food donations from participants to support the Y’s four Fresh Mart food pantries around the region providing Thanksgiving groceries for families who are food insecure.
Volunteers also are needed to help prepare for and staff the event. Those wanting to volunteer should visit yturkeytrot.org.
