Lane Closures Expected During Sidewalk Project Near Ellicott City Schools
A sidewalk project connecting two school buildings will take place this week, prompting lane closures.
ELLICOTT CITY, MD — Just in time for the start of school, a construction project has started to install a sidewalk along Old Saint Johns Lane from Leaf Shade Drive to Saint Johns Lane as part of the county’s WalkHoward plan to connect the neighborhood to St. John's Lane Elementary School and Mt. Hebron High School.
The project includes the installation of ramps and crosswalk markings at the intersection of Old Saint Johns Lane and Leaf Shade Drive and the addition of curb, gutter and a storm drain inlet. Weather permitting, the project should wrap up this Friday.
Signs will be posted and flagging operations will be in place to direct traffic, since temporary lane closures in the area surrounding the project should be anticipated during construction hours this week from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The sidewalk also will be closed at each end of the work zone where the sidewalks currently end.
