Lorien Health Services Names John Mangione Jr. Chief Operating Officer
Wayne Brannock has been named Chief Clinical Officer at Lorien and brings more than five decades of experience to his new role.
ELLICOTT CITY, MD – May 15, 2025 - Lorien Health Services, a family-owned assisted living/nursing home company and industry innovator, announced today the promotion of two key leaders: John Mangione Jr. has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer and Wayne Brannock has been named Chief Clinical Officer.
In his new role, Mangione will oversee daily management ensuring they align with Lorien’s strategic goals focusing on high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and financial performance. Mangione will also concentrate on staff development, resident satisfaction, and will collaborate with leadership to drive business growth. “John’s varied experience and steadfast determination makes him the right choice for this role, and we look forward to his contributions as we continue to grow and enhance our commitment to outstanding care,” said Lou Grimmel, Sr., Chief Executive Officer of Lorien Health Services.
Mangione began his career in 2009 and after completion of the Administrator in Training (AIT) program, received his Nursing Home Administrator license in 2012. At that time, he opened and operated Lorien Elkridge and during the COVID-19 pandemic, was instrumental in navigating his team through unprecedented challenges. In 2022, Mangione then moved into a corporate role and managed areas within assisted living sales and company staffing, while also partnering with the Chief Financial Officer on special financial projects.

Brannock, a veteran healthcare executive, brings more than five decades of experience to his new role as Chief Clinical Officer. He began his career in healthcare in 1970 and has 20 years of experience in acute care and more than 35 years in long-term/post-acute care. Brannock has served in a variety of leadership roles at Lorien, including Assistant Administrator, Vice President of Clinical Service, and Chief Operating Officer. As Chief Clinical Officer, he will oversee all clinical operations, survey readiness, and case management across all the Lorien facilities.
