Sidewalk, ADA Compliant Ramps To Be Installed Along Stretch Of Frederick Road
A project to install a stretch of sidewalk and ADA compliant ramps along Frederick Road will start in two weeks.
ELLICOTT CITY, MD — A project to install a sidewalk and Americans with Disabilities Act compliant ramps along the south side of Frederick Road from Pierce Drive to Font Hill Road in Ellicott City should start in a couple of weeks.
The project will include the installation of a pedestrian crossing with a refuge island and bike lane striping and signage in the project area. Weather permitting, the project should wrap up by late August.
This project is part of the county’s Complete Streets and WalkHoward plan to connect existing sidewalks and improve connections for the county’s Font Hill neighborhoods. Signs will be posted in the project area to alert residents and drivers of the construction, which will happen weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

"Sidewalks create neighborhood connections and provide our residents safe and healthy transportation options. In the last seven years, we have invested more than $65 million in multimodal transportation projects, compared to just $11.6 million during the prior four-year period. Projects like this allow us construct, expand and improve our infrastructure to ensure a safer, healthier and more inclusive community for all. This project builds upon the impactful Complete Streets and WalkHoward improvements projects we have already implemented along Frederick Road, further enhancing the areas transportation options," stated Howard County Executive Calvin Ball.
