New Court Date Set For Accused Cannibal

Alexander Kinyua of Joppa is accused of murdering Kujoe Bonsafo Agyei-Kodie and eating parts of the dead man's organs.

A new court date has been set for the Joppa man accused of killing his housemate and eating part of the dead man's heart and brain.

Alexander Kinyua, 22, was expected in court Monday for a plea hearing. The hearing was canceled, however, when court staff discovered an order was never made to have him transfered from the maximum security mental facility where he was being held.

A new court date has been set for 9 a.m. Aug. 19 in Harford County Circuit Court.

Harford County State's Attorney Joe Cassilly told Fox News Kinyua is expected to plead not criminally responsible for first-degree murder.

Kinyua pleaded guilty, but not criminally responsible for an attempted murder that took place on the Morgan State campus a week before the Harford County murder.

In the Harford County case, Kinyua, of the 500 block of Terrapin Terrace in Joppa, is charged with first-degree murder and use of a dangerous weapon in connection with the killing of Kujoe Bonsafo Agyei-Kodie.

The charges stem from the May 2012 discovery of human remains in Kinyua's basement and his alleged admission to detectives that he killed Agyei-Kodie, cut him up with a knife then ate part of the dead man's heart and brain before hiding body parts, according to charging documents.
