Greenbelt Park Cleanup

The Greenbelt Park will host a watershed cleanup Saturday.

If you’re looking to get down and dirty with fellow Greenbelters, head out to the Greenbelt Park for a watershed cleanup Saturday.

The event is part of the annual Potomac Watershed Cleanup Day, so you won’t be alone in your cleaning efforts—about 300 sites are participating in the event. Greenbelt’s cleanup will take place from 9 a.m. to noon, regardless of the weather.

The Potomac River provides 480 million gallons of drinking water to the Washington, D.C. area and 100 millions of ground water to rural regions, so it’s in your best interest to keep the park water clean.

Participants will meet at the Holly Picnic Area, then disperse to other areas of the park. Some of the items that have been uncovered in past cleanings are a pogo stick, tires and a diving board. To RSVP call 301-344-3944 and be sure to wear appropriate clothing and bring work gloves.
