Valley View Farms Knows Water Gardens

Gardeners wanting to design and build a water feature can find all the materials needed—as well as professional guidance—at the venerable York Road establishment.

There's just something about a backyard water garden—the babbling, soothing sounds of water breaking over a graduated ledge of rocks, the chirping of birds visiting the inviting spot, the colorful explosions of water flowers and the splashy playfulness of fish and frogs—that provides an inexpensive version of therapy.

At Cockeysville's renowned Valley View Farms, the water garden experts, led by manager Tim McQuaid, know their stuff when it comes to designing, building, stocking and maintaining ponds and other residential water features.

McQuaid's been working at the York Road establishment for 35 years.

"I started here when I was 16—it was my first job," he said Thursday. "It's still my first job!"

Anyone wanting to create a water garden can find all of the materials, creatures, seminars and professional advice at Valley View.
