Hyattsville Anniversary Parade, Fireworks Today
Road closures go into effect in central Hyattsville for festivities. Fireworks set for tonight.
Hyattsville turn 127 this weekend, and locals can celebrate with parades, rides, fireworks and more.
The carnival, down at Magruder Park, has been operating since Thursday.
The parade kicks off today at 11 a.m. It begins from Hyattsville Middle School and winds its way down to the carnival in Magruder Park along 42nd Avenue, Jefferson Street and Hamilton Street.

Starting at 10 a.m., police will be closing off streets to allow for the parade to make its way through town. 42nd Avenue between Oliver Street and Jefferson Street will be closed, Jefferson Street will be closed 42nd Avenue and Hamilton Street, and Hamilton Street will be closed between 37th Place and Gallatin Street.
"The route will re-open after the parade's conclusion, at approximately 12:30 p.m.," reads an announcement from the city of Hyattsville. "Police officers will be on hand at key intersections, but please be aware that you may be not be able to cross the route until the parade's conclusion, and plan to use alternate routes."

Later this evening, the city will be hosting a fireworks show as part of the anniversary festivities down at Magruder Park. The fireworks are set to begin at 8 p.m.
