Town of Kensington Approves Budget for Road Repairs

The Town Council in Kensington has approved the extension of a contractual agreement with Beltsville, MD-based NZI Construction Corporation to repave additional streets.

The repair project funded through the Capital Improvement Plan will cost about $400,000, according to a Town Council official document.

The roads being considered include: Warner Street, Detrick Avenue, Kaiser Place, Wheatley Street, Dupont Avenue, Kent Street (west of Kensington Parkway), and Frederick Avenue (north of Kent Street).

The current budget to repave the streets is over budget by $50,000, according to the Town Manager Sanford Daily. He added that he will have to make a decision with a contractor on what roads to repair or patch.

Repairing the roads will entail a total of 4,000 linear feet of curve and gutter replacement, including 28,000 square yards of road to mill and replace.

So far, the roads that have been repaired include: Frederick Avenue (from Kensington Parkway to Kent Street) and Kent Street between Kensington Parkway and the Town/County line east of Frederick Avenue.
