One person was taken to the hospital Wednesday morning when a car struck a pole in Maryland City.

The accident happened around 7:00 a.m. in the 500 block of Brock Bridge Road, according to Anne Arundel County Fire Department spokesman Keith Swindle.

The impact brought down a set of wires, Swindle said, forcing authorities to close off the road through at least 8:45 a.m.

All occupants of the vehicle had gotten out by the time firefighters arrived, but one person was transported to Laurel Regional Hospital.
