Hammond High Hosts Empty Bowls Community Fundraiser for Grassroots
Benefit includes ceramic bowls by art students and soups from culinary arts program with all proceeds going to crisis intervention center
The National Art Honor Society and Culinary Department at Hammond High School are hosting “Empty Bowls 2023,” a community fundraiser for Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center, on Thursday, March 16, from 5-7 p.m., in the school cafeteria.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door. Admission includes a hand-painted ceramic bowl, all-you-can-eat soup, bread and dessert.
The ceramic bowls have been created by Hammond High School art students. The soups are made by students participating in the Hammond High School Culinary Arts program. All of the proceeds from the event go to Grassroots, Howard County’s only 24-hour crisis intervention center and shelter for the homeless.

The National Art Honor Society was founded by the National Art Education Association to inspire and recognize students with an outstanding ability in art and to bring art education to the attention of the school and the community.
Columbia-based Grassroots is staffed by professional crisis counselors who answer 24-hour hotlines, see walk-ins in need of immediate counseling assistance, operate the mobile crisis team which responds to community emergencies, and manage the county’s emergency shelter for men, women and families who are homeless.
