Quartet will share tips on writing your own life stories in free programs at retirement community in Downtown Columbia starting September 12

Residences at Vantage Point Arts & Culture Collective will continue its recent focus on memoir and life stories in its Fall 2023 series. The four in-person programs include:

Tuesday, Sept. 12, 7-8 p.m.: “A Conversation with Ned Tillman: An environmentalist discusses his new book” will feature the local earth scientist in dialogue with Tim Singleton, co-chair of the Howard County Poetry and Literature Society (HoCoPoLitSo). Tillman is the author of “Good Endeavour: A Maryland Family’s Turbulent History 1695-2002.” He will be sharing ways for recording the past that will be beneficial to descendants.

Tuesday, Sept. 26, 7-8 p.m.: “Tips on Writing Your Own Memoir” showcases George Clack, the popular Howard Community College teacher who recently completed his own memoir. Clack will offer suggestions to attendees on telling their own life stories.

Tuesday, Oct. 10, 7-8 p.m.: “A Presentation on Happiness” includes professor and poet Tara Hart’s sharing timeless lessons and contemporary research about what makes us happy. Hart is Professor of English, Arts & Humanities at Howard Community College and co-chair of HoCoPoLitSo.

Tuesday, Oct. 24, 7-8 p.m.: “An Art Talk and Reminiscence” by retired Army Colonel Al Biegel concludes the series. Biegel, a Holocaust survivor and painter for the past 60 years, will discuss how art impacted a soldier’s life.
