Wolves Ice Hockey Team Raises $2,000 for Columbia Community Care

Sponsors included The Gardens Ice House, East Coast Hockey and Skating Supply, Chill Axes, Blue Q, and The Howard Hughes Corporation

The local Wolves Ice Hockey team generated $2,000 from contributions and sponsorships at their recent fundraiser for Columbia Community Care, a non-profit that emerged during the pandemic to support families in need with food and other necessities.

The team held a skating party benefit at Color Burst Ice Rink in the Merriweather District of Downtown Columbia. The Howard Hughes Corp., which owns the park and skating operation, provided 50% of ticket sale proceeds to support the team’s efforts.

The Wolves team includes players from Wilde Lake, Hammond, Oakland Mills, Centennial and Long Reach High Schools in Howard County. It is a Howard Scholastic Hockey Association conference team and plays in the Maryland Scholastic Hockey League, an association of over 50 school-based teams located in Maryland and the District of Columbia. The skating benefit was a community service project sponsored by the team.
