Family Of Slain Montgomery Village Man Holds Fundraising Campaign

The family of Michael "Zae" Olaniyi, who was shot and killed Saturday, is holding a fundraising campaign to help cover his funeral expenses.

MONTGOMERY VILLAGE, MD — The family of a Montgomery County man killed in Frederick early Saturday morning is holding an online fundraising campaign to help cover his funeral expenses.

Michael Isaiah “Zae” Olaniyi, 26, of Montgomery Village was shot on North Market Street in Frederick. Olaniyi was rushed to a hospital and pronounced dead a short time later on Saturday, police said.

Olaniyi’s cousin, Kizzy Twyman, launched a GoFundMe page to help with his funeral expenses.

"Isaiah was only 26 years old, and leaves behind two beautiful young children who now have to grow up wondering where their daddy went," Twyman wrote on the GoFundMe page. "He was young, full of life, & always looking to have a good time. His smile is something that will always be remembered.”

Twyman said Olaniyi “was loved by many” and “didn’t deserve what happened to him."

“Our family is deeply saddened by the sudden loss of our brother/nephew/cousin/grandson/son," Twyman wrote.

All donations "so that we can peacefully lay him to rest would be greatly appreciated," Twyman said.
