North Baltimore resident Shontae Jones is the 2014 winner of The Arc Baltimore’s Excellence in Management Award.
Shontae joined The Arc Baltimore’s HR Department in 2007 and has been a stabilizing constant since she started. She has provided leadership during times of staff transition and is now leading a team that facilitates the HR needs for more than 800 employees.
During her time at The Arc Baltimore, Shontae has implemented the Respectful Workplace Training program. She coordinates the annual Health & Wellness Fair, and resurrected the Retention Committee to help reduce employee turnover and improve retention. She also implemented an Employee Self-Serve Program that gives employees digital access to their important employee documents. Most recently, Shontae testified in Annapolis about the important work of direct support professionals, their skills and talent, and about the need to compensate them above the minimum wage rate.
