Orb Draws Inside Post For Preakness Stakes

The Kentucky Derby winner will start on the rail in Saturday's nine-horse field at Pimlico.

Orb will have the shortest track to run if he has aims of winning the second leg of the Triple Crown Saturday at Pimlico.

The Kentucky Derby winner drew the inside post position Wednesday for the Preakness Stakes, slated for Saturday evening at Old Hilltop.

Orb is an even-money favorite heading into the 138th Preakness Stakes.

In Kentucky earlier this month, Orb defeated a field twice the size of the one he'll have bearing down on him out of the gate on Saturday.

Trainer Shug McGaughey told reporters Wednesday, “I’m not sure that I would have picked the ‘1’ out of there. If it had come out the ‘1’ in the Derby, you’d almost have felt like you needed to go home, but I don’t feel that way here."

Mylute, which finished fifth at the Derby, was given the second-best odds at 5-to-1.
