Five Useful Things To Know Today: Dec. 1

Holy cow, it's December already! My how the year has flown by! Here are five things to help you through the last first day of the month in 2011:

1. There will be no rain, I repeat, no rain today if the forecasts hold. Expect clear skies, lots of sun, and a crisp high temperature of 52 degrees.

4. In case you missed it: Friday, Dec. 2, marks the beginning of the 12th season of Christmas tree sales for Our Lady of the Visitation Parish in Darnestown.

5. On this day in history: Rosa Parks was arrested for refusing to give up her front-section bus seat to a white man in Montgomery, Al., in 1955. Exxon and Mobil agreed to merge, creating the world's largest corporation in 1998.
