'Exorcist' Author William Peter Blatty Dies at 89

Author William Peter Blatty, whose best-selling novel "The Exorcist" was made into the Oscar-winning movie of the same name that terrified millions with its tale of demonic possession of a girl, died Thursday at age 89. 2017 Income Tax Season: Maryland’s First Day to File, Delayed Refunds

Taxpayers have an extra weekend to buckle down, compile and submit their tax returns in 2017, and new IRS scrutiny of two tax credits means that refunds will be delayed until late February for taxpayers who claim the credits. Comptroller Peter Franchot says Maryland will begin processing personal income tax returns on Jan. 23, 2017, the same day the Internal Revenue Service begins accepting returns. >>> Read more.
