QO Lax Advances; Gaithersburg, Watkins Mill Eliminated

's boy's varsity lacrosse team was the only Gaithersburg-area school to advance in yesterday's first round matchups, emphatically defeating Magruder, 27-2.

The 11th-seeded Cougars will meet No. 3 Clarksburg on Friday at 7 p.m. in the MPSSAA boy's lacrosse 4A-3A North region quarterfinals.

No. 9 was eliminated by No. 8 Thomas Johnson, 10-4, and No. 12 was defeated by No. 5 Richard Montgomery, 8-7.

Notes: The third-seeded Watkins Mill's girl's varsity team will host Urbana on Friday after a first round bye. Top-seeded Quince Orchard awaits the winner of Thursday's Clarksburg-Richard Montgomery game.

The MPSSAA boy's baseball bracket was released Thursday. Gaithersburg High School earned the 4A West region's No. 9 seed and will face No. 8 Clarksburg on Friday. Quince Orchard earned the No. 2 seed and a first round bye.
