Arundel, South River Fall in Field Hockey Playoffs
In other sports news, the girls soccer teams remain in the playoff hunt, while local volleyball teams earned high seeds in the state playoff tournament.

It was a tough day for local field hockey teams Monday, as both Arundel and South River fell in the MPSSAA Class 4A state playoffs.
Arundel, a No. 2 seed in the East region, lost 1-0 to top-seeded Severna Park. South River, meanwhile, dropped a 2-1 game to Broadneck. Severna Park and Broadneck will play for the regional title.
Volleyball Bracket Announced
Arundel High is looking for another volleyball regional title and earned a No. 1 seed in the Class 4A East bracket. South River also earned a No. 1 seed, putting the two teams on track for a regional final clash. Broadneck and Severna Park are each seeded second and will pose tough challenges.
All four teams earned first-round byes and will play their second-round games on Monday, Nov. 4.
Meade is seeded fourth and Old Mill is seeded seventh.
Girls Soccer Plays Tuesday
Girls soccer action continues Tuesday as top-seeded Arundel faces Glen Burnie. Second-seeded South River hosts North Point.
