BWI Airport Partially Evacuated For Law Enforcement Investigation

BWI Airport was partially evacuated for a law enforcement investigation. The investigation delayed flights and confused passengers.

LINTHICUM, MD — Part of Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport was evacuated Wednesday evening for a law enforcement investigation.

BWI Airport said a portion of Concourse A was cleared around 6 p.m. The investigation found no threat, and regular operations resumed around 6:30 p.m.

The airport has not released any specifics on what prompted the investigation.

Passenger Heather Mongilio shared this video of travelers who were funneled into the food court between terminals A and B.

Mongilio told The Baltimore Banner her flight to Orlando, Florida, was supposed to take off by 6:05 p.m., but she boarded just before 7 p.m. and departed by 7:30 p.m.

"A delay is a bummer, but I will always take safety over getting someplace on time," Mongilio, who lives in Ellicott City and works as a reporter for USNI News, told The Banner.

No flights were canceled because of the investigation, BWI Airport spokesperson Jonathan Dean told The Banner.
