Dozens of Local Runners Complete Marine Corps Marathon
More than 100 runners from west Anne Arundel County finished the race in Arlington over the weekend.

More than 30,000 runners ran the 38th annual Marine Corps Marathon in Arlington, VA this weekend. The area of west Anne Arundel County was well represented with dozens of runners.
Ethiopian Girma Bedada was the first male to finish with a time of 2 hours 21 minutes 32 seconds. Colorado resident Kelly Calway finished first among the women (2:42:16).
Calway, a captain in the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Carson, Colo., will deploy to Kuwait next week, according to the Washington Post.
Finishers of the Marine Corps Marathon included:
- 38 runners from Odenton
- 10 runners from Fort Meade
- 19 runners from Severn
- 11 runners from Hanover
- 32 runners from Crofton
- 13 runners from Gambrills
