Final Arguments Tuesday in Appeal of Chesapeake Landfill

Operators of the proposed landfill received a two-year extension in February, over the objections of nearby homeowners.

The County Board of Appeals will hear final arguments Tuesday in a case relating to a proposed rubble landfill and sand and gravel operation in the south of Odenton.

The Forks of the Patuxent Improvement Association filed an appeal of the decision to give operators of the Chesapeake Terrace project more time to begin construction. The landfill and sand and gravel operation would be built off Patuxent Road, south of Piney Orchard.

The Chesapeake Terrace operators received a special exception originally in 1990. They have requested and received multiple two-year extensions, most recently in February.

Tuesday's arguments will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Arundel Center, located at 44 Calvert St., Annapolis.
