Flights Resume At BWI Airport After FAA System Outage
Hundreds of flights across the U.S., including at BWI Airport, resumed Wednesday after delays caused by the reboot of a FAA flight system.
BALTIMORE, MD — Several domestic flights out of Baltimore Washington International Airport were delayed Wednesday morning amid a nationwide Federal Aviation Administration outage.
The FAA said in a tweet Wednesday it was working on restoring its Notice to Air Missions System. Flight tracking website FlightAware reports 760 delays within, into or out of the U.S. as of about 7 a.m.
Just before 9 a.m. ET the FAA said, "Normal air traffic operations are resuming gradually across the U.S. following an overnight outage to the Notice to Air Missions system that provides safety info to flight crews. The ground stop has been lifted. We continue to look into the cause of the initial problem."

"The FAA has ordered airlines to pause all domestic departures until 9 a.m. Eastern Time to allow the agency to validate the integrity of flight and safety information," the agency said in a tweet near 7:30 a.m. "While some functions are beginning to come back online, National Airspace System operations remain limited."
