The Anne Arundel County football season is entering the final two weeks, with playoff spots still up in the air.
Undefeated Old Mill has the inside track for the top berth in the Class 4A state playoffs. The top four teams in the east region qualify for the postseason.
Old Mill, Meade, Broadneck and Arundel are battling for playoff spots, while North Point in Charles County and Leonardtown in St. Mary's County are also in the mix.
Here's a look at the schedule of key games Friday. All games are at 6:30 p.m.
Meade vs. Broadneck - Each of these teams has just a single blemish on their record, and that's a loss to Old Mill. Broadneck topped Arundel last week. This game could have big implications for playoff seeding.
Arundel vs. Chesapeake - Arundel has two losses, to Old Mill and Broadneck. Chesapeake (3-5) is out of playoff contention but did give Old Mill a scare last week and could damage Arundel's playoff hopes.
Old Mill vs. North County - Old Mill should have an easy time against the Knights but will look to continue playing strong heading into the postseason.
Leonardtown vs. Chopticon - Leonardtown should be favored in this game, but will be hurt by Chopticon's status as a 3A team. (Wins over smaller schools don't offer as many "win" points in the standings.)
North Point at LaPlata - North Point is 5-3 and will need help to reach the playoffs. A win Friday will help, but LaPlata's status as a 3A team will make it harder to move up in the standings.
It's worth noting that Arundel plays Meade on Nov. 8, so the playoff picture may not be fully decided until next week.
