Airline Cuts Flights To BWI Airport After Decade-Long Run: Reports
An airline is cutting flights to BWI Airport after a decade. The leisure carrier cited a court ruling in its native Germany.

LINTHICUM, MD — A longstanding seasonal flight to Frankfurt will not return to Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport.
Leisure carrier Condor is cutting its service to BWI Airport after a court ruling in its home country of Germany, reports said.
Thrifty Traveler, a travel news website, reported last week that Condor is additionally dropping its flights to San Antonio International Airport (SAT), Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX).

Condor is also terminating its service to the Canadian airports of Edmonton (YEG) and Halifax (YHZ), Thrifty Traveler said.
San Antonio International announced the news on Dec. 23 after a Dec. 20 ruling from the German Federal Court of Justice, the country's highest court.

"The court overturned a longstanding measure enforced by the German Antitrust Authority that required another German airline, Lufthansa, to provide feeder flights to Condor’s network. This measure allowed passengers from North American cities to fly on Condor to Frankfurt and connect onwards on a Lufthansa flight on the same ticket with their bags checked through to their final destination," the San Antonio International press release said.
Condor launched summertime flights from BWI Airport in 2012, the Baltimore Business Journal reported. The service paused during the COVID-19 pandemic and resumed in 2022.
The route offered lie-flat seats in business class.
"This is not a decision we take lightly. Condor has cultivated strong professional and personal ties with San Antonio and the other affected communities over the years, and we deeply regret the loss of connectivity and service this will cause. We remain committed to exploring all avenues for fair competition, though we recognize that further legal proceedings will take time to resolve," Condor Commercial Director Jens Boyd said in the San Antonio International release.
