Help This War Vet Find His Lost Dog
A Severn man's dog ran away after a car wreck; family members hope you can help reunite Donald Shiles and Comet.
Retired Master Sgt. Donald Shiles, 76, of Severn is a man who risked his life for his country fighting in the Vietnam War, negotiating with terrorists in Iran, and last in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Now, Shiles would give just about anything to have the safe return of his beloved dog. His wife and daughter could use your help to find this missing companion.
His daughter, Becky Shiles, said her father takes Comet, his 3-year-old rat terrier, with him everywhere.

“The only places he doesn’t bring him are bowling and golf,” she said, but Becky says if her dad could take his pooch to those two places, Comet would be there, too.
The veteran was driving his black Ford pickup to his daughter’s home along Telegraph Road in Severn on Monday. His truck clipped another vehicle parked on the roadbed between Midway Road and Old Mill Road, Becky Shiles told Patch.

Shiles’ pickup flipped, and the retired officer suffered a broken collarbone. When Shiles came to and paramedics arrived, Comet had run away and was nowhere to be seen.
“His dog is his life,” Becky Shiles said Friday.
Comet was last seen Monday in front of Patuxent Deck and Fence along Telegraph Road between Midway Road and Old Mill Road. Comet is microchipped and wears a blue collar.
“Comet is kind of shy since he’s only been with my dad,” Shiles says.
If you have any information on where to find Comet, contact Becky Shiles at 410-533-3099. A reward is offered for Comet’s safe return.
